The Finest Materials
The crafting of your scarf begins with raw cashmere arriving at the mills. The softest, highest quality cashmere is the foundation of the iconic Burberry scarf. Hair is taken from the goat, with each producing enough cashmere to weave one scarf. Cashmere’s quality is defined by the length and diameter of its fibres; rigorous testing carried out on site using a traditional hand-combing method ensures it is of a high standard.
Our cashmere scarves embody Burberry’s values of design, craftsmanship and ultimate protection from inclement weather, and are recognised around the world. Skilled craftsmen at respected mills in the towns of Ayr and Elgin make our cashmere scarves using expert methods passed down through generations. The scarves are woven on traditional looms, washed in fresh local water and carefully finished, mixing hand and machine processes.
Prints and Patterns
Our Scarf Bar service allows you to create your own scarf from over 30 colours. The selection includes solid colour styles, the iconic check in a range of shades and prints imagined in the Burberry studio in London. Our original check design – in camel, black and ivory – has been used as a badge of origin as trench coat lining since at least the 1920s. Animal prints, florals, and patchwork patterns have featured in our runway collections alongside playful hearts, dots, and camouflage prints.
All styles are available to monogram as part of our in store and online personalisation service, ideal for gifting. Our cashmere scarves can be monogrammed with up to three letters in over 30 complementary and contrasting thread colours. Initials can be embroidered in one of two different font sizes for complete personalisation.
The Perfect Gift
Our cashmere scarves make the perfect gift. Each scarf is carefully packaged in a trench-coloured cardboard tube, inspired by the cotton gabardine fabric used to make our heritage trench coats. The tubes are made in England and embossed with the gold Equestrian Knight emblem, and feature a matching ribbon. Scarves with monogramming include a personalised paper tag with the initials of the recipient.
